August 2022 Service Campout Harvest for the Hungry Freeport, Texas
August 20-21, 2022 Harvest for the Hungry Freeport, Texas
Scouts and adults gathered on Saturday morning to put in several hours of service for Harvest for the Hungry. It was a hot day of weed pulling and prep work for this community farm but the work was rewarded with several hours of fun in the pool. The troop set up camp on the farm's beautiful grounds and enjoyed camp cooking and good times. The night was warm and the mosquitos were hungry but a weekend spent scouting is a weekend well spent!

June 8 - 18, 2022 Ely Minnesota Boundary Waters
5 scouts and 2 adults braved the wilds of the Boundary Water Canoeing Area as participants in the BSA High Adventure base, Northern Tier. The crew spent 9 days on the water and two additional days in base camp with their trusty guide, Evie. The crew covered 76 miles of paddling and more than 50 portages to see some of the most pristine wilderness we'd ever experienced. Temperatures were mild but the mosquitos were no joke and the physical challenge of this adventure was nothing to take lightly. The scouts and adults enjoyed this adventure completely and returned with stories and bug bites and smiles as big as the Minnesota sky.

Apr 22-24, 2022 Corpus Christi State Park Mathis
The troop returned to Corpus Christi State Park in April to continue with the Northern Tier prep and continuance of canoe basics. The outing this month was not as successful as March due to high winds above 30 MPH with higher gusts. The Northern Tier crew did spend some limited time on the water in canoes but it was deemed that conditions were too hazardous. Plan B was put in place with scouts enjoying free time in the water, practicing pioneering skills, and working on merit badges. 12 scouts and 5 adults attended the Apr Corpus Christi State Park Campout

March 2022 Lake Corpus Christi State Park Mathis, Texas
March 25th - 27th Lake Corpus Christi State Park
The feature for the March outing was Northern Tier prep and intro to canoeing at base camp. We rented several canoes, paddles and floatation devices from the Local scout camp just across from the park. We were not able to stay at the scout camp because they did not have an aquatics supervisor and could not use the canoes on scout property. Nevertheless we were able to rent the equip and use it at the state park. The Northern Tier group put in a solid 10 miles of prep leaving early and returning late. Meanwhile at base camp the remaining scouts practiced canoe safety, rescue and maneuvering. 14 scouts and 4 adult leaders attended the Corpus Christi State Park Campout.

January 2022 Enchanted Rock Fredricksburg, Texas
January 21-23, 2022 Enchanted Rock
Enchanted Rock was extra challenging this year with the temperatures getting down to 24 F. In spite of this, 9 scouts and 3 adults made the long drive arriving around 11:00 pm and then making the 1.3-mile hike into the Walnut Springs primitive camping area. After a short cold night, the Scouts were up at 7:00 am for their primitive campout style breakfast of oatmeal and power bars. Bouldering, a climb to the top of E-rock for lunch and caving were the highlights of the trip. The low point occurred when one of the adult leaders severely sprained his ankle. The troop practiced wilderness first aid and cared for our injured member. Upon return to Lake Jackson and a trip to emergency care. The diagnosis revealed a broken ankle. Ouch!

September 2021 Camp Mohawk Alvin, Texas
On September 25th, Scouts and Adults traveled to Camp Mohawk near Alvin for Fishing and Kayak features. This was an overnight camping trip starting on Saturday morning. After meeting at the scout barn to pack we arrived quickly and began to fish immediately. Later on in the day we drove to a dock and fished more out of Chocolate Bayou. We finished Saturday by going back to camp and eating hamburgers and peach cobbler. The plan for Sunday was to go kayaking in Chocolate Bayou but unfortunately it was canceled when the host providing the kayaks had trailer problems and could not travel to our camp site. We finished off the camp with driving home, unpacking and getting home early.

August 2021 Harvest For The Hungry Camp Freeport, Texas
15 Scouts and 5 Adult leaders gathered at the Harvest 4 Hungry property on August 14th and 15th. Several of the scouts transplanted vegetable plants and stained raised bed siding as part of the service hours for this campout. Harvest recognized our Troop with an appreciation lunch. Thanks David!!!
After lunch the scouts spent time in the pool just having fun with trojan horse joust, canon ball and can opener competition, swim races (watch out for Brandon), and general pool fun. Mr. Sale conducted canoe paddling techniques and the scouts practiced getting into floating canoes in open water and righting sunken canoes in a controlled pool setting. Afterwards, the scouts and adults embarked on canoeing on the Harvest Lake.
The scouts enjoyed a new chef menu item of ChickTater Burgers. Fajita chicken with mashed potatoes sandwiched in a toasted bun. This was coupled with peach and black forest cobblers. Most agreed that in spite of the heat and mosquitos, that this was an enjoyable campout especially when you consider that this is August on the Texas Coast.

July 2021 Camp Daniel Boone Canton, North Carolina
Our summer camp for 2021 was Camp Daniel Boone in Canton, North Carolina. From July 9th through 18th, 12 scouts and 5 adults took the long road trip to North Carolina to experience the best summer camp the BSA has to offer. Camp Daniel Boone did not disappoint as it was tucked in the beautiful Smoke Mountains with lakes and vistas a-plenty. The scouts attended 2 merit badge classes per day and completed most of the badges they attempted (this is a big change from most summer camps). The trip home came 2 days early as 3 Covid cases from another troop closed the camp. Our boys were safe and had lots of stories to share upon returning home.

June 2021 Philmont Scout Ranch Cimarron, New Mexico
Our 2021 High Adventure trip was to Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, New Mexico. From June 12th though June 28th, 6 scouts and 3 advisors braved the elevation and terrain of the most challenging BSA experience available. This 12 day trek took the crew through the southern portion of the Philmont backcountry and was punctuated by summiting Trail Peak (10,200 ft) and Mount Phillips (11,721 ft) as well as countless vistas and experiences that only Philmont can offer. The crew rode horses at Clark's Fork camp, hiked in the clouds at Garcia Cow, played in the snow at Apache Springs, built trails on Cito Peak and enjoyed the legendary Stomp at Cypher's Mine. This trek covered well over 70 miles of beautiful trails and offered wildlife viewing and nature galore. Our stories are endless and we all can't wait to get back to Philmont.

May 2021 Huntsville State Park/Lone Star Trail Huntsville, Texas
The last of our Philmont workup hikes and our last spring season campout was held on May 21st - 23rd, 2021.
Six scouts and 4 adult leaders attended this campout on a rainy but fun trip to Huntsville. Saturday morning was warm and rainy as 4 Philmont crew members and 2 advisors headed out for a 15 mile hike on the Lone Star Trail. The 2 remaining scouts stayed at base camp and practiced cooking and hiking at this great camp site. The rain was steady all day and made the Philmont crew's hike a long and wet slog through river crossings and mud pits. Camping on the trail had to be cancelled due to the flooded conditions so the crew headed back after completing more than 15 miles of the wettest trails we've ever seen. The basecamp group had been busy all day cooking great food and planning a campfire program for a neighboring scout troop. A tough but enjoyable weekend was had by all.

April 2021 Hill Country State Natural Park Bandera, Texas
The Hill Country State Natural Park Campout was held on April 16-18/2021.
Fifteen scouts and Six Adults made the trip to the Hill Country campout in Bandera. The group camped together the first night. On Saturday morning the Philmont Crew made up of 6 scouts and 3 adults broke camp early and headed out on the trail on a Philmont prep hike. They covered 10 miles of challenging terrain and camped over night at Butterfly Springs Camp area.
Meanwhile, After breakfast the non-Philmont crew constructed a camp chair. This was a pioneering project to create a proto type kit that will be used in the future to practice lashings. After lunch they embarked on a 4 mile hike We returned to camp around 4 pm. Due to a burn ban the traditional Dutch oven cobbler had to be modified into making individual pancake type cakes drizzled with a reduced peach capote.
Both the Philmont and Non-Philmont crews retired early, well fed and wore out from the days activities. The Adults in camp spent time star gazing, as the campsite was devoid of clouds and light other than that which was coming from a quarter moon.
Sunday morning the non-Philmont crew broke camp and ate breakfast. The Philmont crew returned to camp at about 9:30. It was clear that everyone had a great weekend of camping as evidenced from the Rose and Thorns feedback.

December 2020 Lost Pines Scout Reservation - Bastrop
On December 20th, 10 scouts and 4 adult leaders set out for another great winter camp experience at Lost Pines Scout Reservation in Bastrop. Each of the scouts encountered new and exciting things at camp from shotgun shooting, wilderness survival classes, first aide, and many other scout skill opportunities. Scouts wore masks and practiced social distancing throughout their time in camp but scout spirit was high and each boy had a great time! Temperatures dipped into the low 30s on our first night but things warmed up nicely for the remainder of the week. Our last night at camp was punctuated by a camp-wide campfire where the boys did a skit in front of the whole camp. Later, the boys had a rip-roaring camp fire back at our camp site to close out a great winter camp experience. Troop 325 is chartered by First United Methodist Church of Lake Jackson
November 2020 Camp Karankawa - Sweeny

March - September 2020 Troop 325
Like all BSA troops, troop 325 has been challenged with the changes associated with COVID 19. With the guidance of BSA, our Scoutmaster and Committee as well as our charter organization, we’ve found a way to keep the scout spirit alive and well while serving our community and offering opportunities for out scouts to grow. We are proud of the work that our scouts have done at Harvest for the Hungry and at our home church. We couldn’t go camping but day camps to work on merit badges were just what the scouts needed to earn merit badges and work on advancements. Our meetings were outside and we even had a Court of Honor outside to keep our scouts and their families safe and excited for the future of troop 325. We had the pleasure of honoring one of our scouts earning the Eagle rank while helping another of our troop with his Eagle project. Thank you to our adult volunteers, First United Methodist Church of Lake Jackson and to the families that help keep our scouts engaged and ready to make this world a better place through scouting.

The night activities consisted of 9 stations measuring teamwork and competence in First Aid, Orienteering, Fire making, and other Scout Skills. The night activities started at 7:00 pm and lasted about 5 hrs. All scouts enjoyed trekking thru the woods in the dark and participating and completing the stations. January 2020 Enchanted Rock State Natural Area, Llano Texas
Again Enchanted Rock proved to meet all expectations. After a long drive to Enchanted Rock State Park, the scouts and adults hiked into the Walnut Springs primitive camping area about 1.3 miles into the park. While we did not have a specific camping feature, the Scouts did a fine job of packing their backpacks for the initial hike.
After a late night, the Scouts were up at 7:00 am and began prep for Primitive campout style breakfast. Scouts worked on orienteering skills by taking bearings of Enchanted Rock points of interest prior to setting off for a day of hiking, bouldering, summit climb and caving. Scouts and Adults ate our typical lunch of Summer Sausage and crackers half way up the E-Rock summit. Once at the top of E-Rock several scouts went caving.
The weather cooperated for the most part, only experiencing minor misting on Friday night and near freezing weather Saturday night. 14 scouts and 7 adults made the memorable trip to E-Rock.

We enjoyed mild day time temperatures of 60 degrees but night time temps were in the mid 30s with lots of humidity to make our experience a true "winter camp." Energetic camp staff, closing camp fire and the night climb and rappel were all highlights to this venture. The boys agreed, however, that time sent with their fellow scouts was the best of all. November 2018 Native American Weekend and FUMC 75th Celebration
The Troop camped at Camp Karankawa Nov 9-10 and Participated in FUMC 75th Anniversary Celebration Nov 11. In Summary it was a memorable weekend with several unexpected experiences. The feature for the weekend was to aid with Native American Cub Scout Campout and to help with our Charter Organization celebration on Sunday. It rained all day Friday clearing up as we prepared to load the Scout trailer for the camping trip. We discovered that there is a back entrance to Camp Karankawa. Unfortunately a wrong turn resulted in a Scout trailer spinning in mud ruts. Our welcome to a weekend of swamp camping. After a brief delay to free the trailer, the Scouts tracked thru several inches of water and mud to set up camp along the high ground around our campsite pavilion, the only semi dry area for setting up tents. Morning came quickly and Scouts were assigned stations to man for the day’s activities. There were over 1600 Cub Scouts registered for the weekend providing an initial overwhelming at the assigned stations. As the day progressed the Scouts became comfortable with roles and managed their stations. After a brief showing at the closing ceremonies we decided to pack up and head for home to prep for Sunday’s activities. Thankfully the return trip was uneventful. Sunday came quickly and the Scouts arrived early at FUMC to begin prepping our area with Scouting memorabilia past and present representing 75 years of our Troops history coinciding with our Charter Organization’s history. An unexpected result of the weekend was the numerous times that the Scouts demonstrated leadership and ownership of assigned roles not to mention the commitment to representing Troop 325 at Native American Cub Scout Campout and FUMC 75th celebration. Ten Scouts and four adults helped make the weekend a success. Troop 325 is sponsored by the First United Methodist Church of Lake Jackson.

After loading up for the trek home, I can safely say that all the scouts were asleep shortly after leaving the parking lot. This was definitely a different venue for Troop325. Troop 325 is sponsored by FUMC of Lake Jackson.
July 2018 Lake Texana and Splashway
8 Scouts and 6 Adults attended this Family Camping/Water park event at Lake Texana & Splashway Water Park July 20-22, 2018. We arrived at camp around 8pm and promptly retired the colors. Troop 325 was responsible for retiring and raising flags through the weekend. It was great practice for our Scouts. Additionally, we worked on marching maneuvers. The Scouts got little sleep Friday night due to a family of raccoons which spent their night trying to get into the Scout's rations. In the morning, the Scouts expanded their cooking repertoire by making omelets in zip lock bags in boiling water. This cut down significantly of KP. After breakfast we posted the colors and headed off to Splashway Water Park. We spent the day in the Wavepool, Riding the Loco Mono and Tubular Tornado slides among others and relaxing in the Lazy River. Scouts were treated to peach cobbler and an unexpected camp sponsored fireworks display. Scouts broke down camp early Sunday morning, ate breakfast and policed the camp area, leaving it cleaner than when they arrived.
